AFCON Players
At the time of writing:

Aguerd and Kudus are called up

Algeria haven’t announced their squad yet - though Benrahma wasn’t in their last two squads after falling out with the coach

Cornet appears to have missed out on the Ivory Coast squad:

https://sportstar.thehindu.com/football/afcon-2024-host-ivory-coast-squad-no-wilfried-zaha-news/article67685837.ece

With Kudus gone and Paqueta possibly injured, maybe Cornet’s West Ham future isn’t completely sealed yet

Bill
Cornet not in the Cote d'Ivory final squad announced yesterday of 27.

Benrhama is in the 55 named squad December 15 for Algeria.

not sure when the final squads are to be announced but will almost start falling into place over the weekend. Last tournament it was Jan 3rd the players could stay with their PL clubs I expect Benrhama to make the final 27 too. Just expect his experience will be uselful and upto yesterday was a great penalty taker.

Kudus and Aguerd will definetly be there.

Re: AFCON Players
Ghana are in 3rd place in their group with 2 points.

There’s 6 groups with the top two in each group going through, and the 4 best 3rd placed teams going through (I think)

At present,Ivory Coast and Namibia both have 3 points. So we only need two more results out of four groups to go our way to get him back.

Don't forget Mauritania who beat Algeria 1-0 and Finnished on 3 points

Re: AFCON Players
Shame on a personal level for Kudus but at least he's back fit and should be perfectly rested and fine to start our next match. Possibly with some extra fire in his belly.

Can see Morocco getting at least to the semi finals so I don't imagine Aguerd will be back until the Forest game at the earliest. Although i suppose some are going to be pleased about that.

There actually wasn't a result in that game that could've led to Ghana staying, be it a Mauritania win, an Algeria win or a draw.

Re: AFCON Players
I suspect that Said Benrahma allowed himself a wry simle last night. The Algeria manager seems a bit of a twat. And with Kudus coming back that might be a double relief for him.

You will all be delighted to hear that I managed to get tickets for the Final and 3rd place match on Friday. Behind the goal for £6.50 at the Final and on the half way line for £13 for 3rd place (look out for me in a WH home shirt next to a Gooner on the telly), which is balancing out (a little) the £378 I've had to spend so far on a visa for Nigeria.

Nigeria?

Isn't it being played in the Ivory Coast?

Who sold you those tickets, George Agdgdgwngo? ;-)

The easiest* way to get to Ivory Coast is via Nigeria, Benin, Togo and Ghana.

I figured that, I just wanted to shoehorn George Agdgdgwngo into the conversation!

You been down to those parts before?

On The Ball 5:42 Wed Jan 24
Re: AFCON Players
Nah, not West. North, East and South, yes. What put us off years ago was the cost of the Nigerian visa, which has only got MUCH more expensive and harder to get since. For reference, North Korea was £20. Nigeria is paid mostly in USD, a bit in GBP, and a chunk with a Postal Order.

George Agdgdgwngo is a name I will be using a few times in the coming weeks, I suspect!

Seb Haller scores the winning goal in the final.
Good finish too. Poacher’s goal.

Absolutely made up for him after what he’s been through. (Yes, I do mean his cancer, rather than having to play under Moyes/Pellegrini for us… Actually he’s not fond of Moyes for some reason.) Oh how we could do with a centre forward now.
